WolfSpeaker Immortals #2 Tamora Pierce Books

I read. A lot.
I'm no wordsmith but I know what I like. I trudged through 3 awful books after I finished the Sarah J. Maas books. Then I happened upon this series. Holy hockey sticks!! It seems like every time I'm afraid the book is going to go in a direction every other book goes in, the author inserts a little, oh heck no!! She stays true to her story without trying to please the masses. That's not to say this is not a very varied and inclusive book. Exactly opposite. This book includes every race and difference anyone could ever have. And it does it in a smart way that is captivating and hugely entertaining. Seriously, who couldn't love an author who thanks the people who helped her from the way back, MTV and the Headbamgers ball. We're not worthy!! Love it and can't wait to start book 3. Wheeee!!!

WolfSpeaker Immortals #2 Tamora Pierce Books Reviews

I enjoyed this one a lot. Daine is growing into her powers and developing new abilities. She’s also growing and maturing as a person. I enjoyed animals and their various points of view and personalities. It was a fun easy read.
I love these wonderful books!! The Author writes such good stories and you never want to stop reading. The characters are great and you fall in love with each one as well as their descriptions. I can hardly wait to read the next book in this series.
I just love the animals speaking and the adventure. The wolves are more intelligent because of their interactions with Daine. We get to see more of the dragon from the other book. There are villains of course and battles to be won. Overall, highly entertaining and worth continuing from the first.
In this novel, Daine, who is a shape-changer, is called by the pack that first sheltered her when her village was attacked by bandits. They have been driven out of their home range into new territory; now that land is under attack by humans who are ruining the land, tearing up the land and driving animals away. Traveling with her tutor, Numair, Daine and her companion travel to see what is going on, hoping to provide support. When they arrive, they find a world that is dying, and a kingdom that is preparing to attack Numair's home.
As Numair leaves Daine in order to inform the king, Daine is left with the pack, and must use her ability to become various animals as she begins a guerilla action against the enemy.
This book is the second in the series, and it is a wonderful addition. A great read with wonderful characters (both human and animal)! I would, however, recommend that readers go for the first book, Wild Magic, before reading this novel.
The main character isn't obnoxiously perfect, but she definitely has that "everyone she meets loves her" thing going on. And her powers just keep getting more amazing every chapter. The other characters in the book are all pretty much in a state of perpetual surprise when she unleashes yet another "magical ability that no one else could possibly do, ever!" On the other hand, it's fun to see a bunch of my old favorite characters, like Alanna the Lioness , her hubby and kids, and even good old Jonathan. I still love this world and the people within it, but Daine is just too....too much, I guess. There's never any feeling of real danger or struggle to overcome prejudice or, well, anything. Sure, something evil is stirring in the land, but we know from page one that Daina and her army of admiring powerful friends will overcome it. I just couldn't bring myself to worry too much over anyone, which sort of takes all the fun out of it.
Tamora Pierce is one of my absolute favorite authors, and I LOVE this series. Her heroines are always smart, strong, determined, and brave, without ever going over the top into "Mary Sue" overpowered territory. The main character of this series, Daine, is one of my favorites-- she's realistic, interesting, doesn't complain or whine, and she grows and adapts and conquers her fears throughout the series. In this book she returns to visit the wolf pack that took her in (she's an animal-speaker) so she can save them (and the rest of the forest and land) from ruin by the greedy (and, it turns out, traitorous) Lord and Lady who own the territory. She learns more about her powers and abilities and gains a lot of insight, while also overcoming her fear of going "mad" and forgetting she's human to once more run as a wolf. A great second book in a great series.
This entire series is a must read during ones formative years. It's my opinion that reading her entire body of work during the mental development of a teen could eliminate many inherent thoughts of bias, ego, and solve for the gaps of compassion that lead to the problems humanity faces today. And that is NOT overselling her work in the slightest.
I read. A lot.
